Energy Performance Certificates Gallery
Energy Star
Region: United States
Eengy Star certification ensures that a product meets high energy efficiency standards set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Aluminum windows and doors with the ENERGY STAR label are designed to reduce energy consumption by improving insulation, lowering heating and cooling costs, and enhancing overall energy performance. This certification is essential for promoting eco-friendly, energy-efficient products in residential and commercial applications.
NFRC (National Fenestration Rating Council)
Region: United States
NFRC certification evaluates the energy performance of windows and doors in terms of U-factor (insulation), Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC), and visible transmittance. NFRC-certified window and door products generally meet the requirements of U.S. building energy regulations.
CE (Conformité Européenne)
Region: European Union
The CE marking certifies that a product meets the health, safety, and environmental protection standards of the European Economic Area (EEA). A CE-marked aluminum window and door complies with EU standards for safety, durability, and performance, including aspects like water tightness, wind resistance, and thermal performance. This is essential for selling products within the EU.
CSA (Canadian Standards Association)
Region: Canada
CSA certification ensures that windows and doors meet Canadian building codes and energy-efficiency standards. It focuses on factors like structural integrity, water tightness, and thermal performance. Products certified by CSA meet Canadian climate and durability requirements, making them suitable for harsher environments.
AS2047 (Australian Standard)
Region: Australia
AS2047 certification ensures windows and doors meet the structural, water, and wind performance requirements suitable for the Australian climate. This certification guarantees that the aluminum windows can withstand high wind loads, water penetration, and air leakage, meeting these conditions to ensure that the doors and windows are fit for Australian climate conditions.
AAMA (American Architectural Manufacturers Association)
Region: United States
AAMA certification ensures that aluminum windows and doors meet rigorous performance standards for durability, weather resistance, and structural integrity. Products tested under AAMA standards undergo assessments for air leakage, water penetration, and wind pressure resistance, guaranteeing long-term reliability and high-quality construction. This certification is widely recognized in the U.S. market, making it essential for manufacturers aiming to meet industry benchmarks and building code requirements.
Why Should We Check Energy Efficiency Certificates When Buying Aluminum Windows and Doors?
- A report from the U.S. Department of Energy highlights that energy-efficient windows and doors can reduce household energy costs by up to 12%.
- The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) finds that energy-efficient windows and doors can cut heating and cooling costs by up to 25%, improving energy performance.
- The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) reports that using ENERGY STAR-certified windows and doors can save homeowners between $126 to $465 annually on energy bills.

How ZMR Makes the Best Energy-efficient Windows and Doors
· From the Points of Frame Profiles
All ZMR aluminum profiles use thermal break, including window frames and sashes. This helps to increase the heat loss rate or U-factor, thereby improving the overall energy efficiency of doors and windows.
Thermal Break Aluminum Profiles
Thermal break is to divide the aluminum material into two parts, the interior and exterior parts, and connect the two parts with a thermal insulation layer with poor heat/cold conductivity. Thermal break is a special design that can also effectively improve the durability of the frame, because the thermal insulation strip can reduce the expansion of aluminum due to heat, thereby increasing the durability of aluminum doors and windows.
ZMR’s thermal break material can increase U-factors (heat loss rate) from roughly 140~170W/㎡·k to about 1.8~3.5W/㎡·k. The lower the U value, the better the thermal insulation/cold resistance of aluminum windows and doors.
· From the Points of Glazing
ZMR offers different types of glass materials, such as double glazing, laminated glass, coated glass, Low-E glass, and argon-filled glass, all of which have a significant impact on energy efficiency. Here is an analysis of their impact on energy efficiency.
1. Double Glazing:
Double glazing is composed of two sheets of glass with an inert gas added between them. This design improves thermal insulation by reducing heat conduction. Double glazing can effectively reduce heat loss through the window, especially in winter, it can prevent indoor heat from escaping, and in summer, it can prevent outside heat from entering, thereby reducing heating and air conditioning energy consumption.
2. Laminated Glass:
Laminated glass is a layer of polyvinyl butyral (PVB) film sandwiched between two or more sheets of glass. In addition to providing safety protection, laminated glass can also enhance sound insulation and heat insulation, reduce heat transfer, and thus improve energy efficiency.
3. Coated Glass:
Coated glass is coated with a special metal or oxide layer on the surface, which can reflect solar radiation and control the transmission of heat. Common coated glass includes Low-E coated glass (Low-E). Coated glass reduces indoor heat accumulation by controlling the transmittance of sunlight, which is particularly effective in hot climates.
4. Low-E Glass:
Low-E glass is a type of glass coated with a low-emissivity film, which effectively reduces the conduction of heat through the glass. It reflects indoor heat back into the room in winter and reflects the sun’s infrared heat in summer to keep the room cool.
· From the Points of Gas Fills and Spacers
The middle cavity of double or triple glass is usually filled with argon or other inert gases. Compared with air, argon has a lower thermal conductivity and can significantly reduce the conduction of heat, thereby improving the thermal insulation performance of the window.
1. Argon Gas Filled Glass:
The middle cavity of double or triple glass is usually filled with argon or other inert gases. Compared with air, argon has a lower thermal conductivity and can significantly reduce the conduction of heat, thereby improving the thermal insulation performance of the window.
2. Warm Edge Spacer:
Warm Edge Spacer is an edge spacer material installed between the glass panels of double or triple glazed windows. It uses low thermal conductivity materials such as composite plastic or silicone to effectively reduce the thermal bridge effect and improve the thermal insulation performance and energy efficiency of the window.
